This version of DLS76 has been provided by Ross Angel Research Professor in Crystallography Crystallography Laboratory Dept. Geological Sciences Virginia Tech Blacksburg VA 24060-0420 USA Tel: 540-231-7974 Fax: 540-231-3386 http://www.crystal.vt.edu/crystal/ Below are his comments to this version. (The zip file was added later and contains the newest version) I thank Ross for his efforts to make DLS-76 available to Windows users. Christian Baerlocher *********************************************************** Compilation: ------------ The code is written to compile under the Compaq Fortran compiler (available for several operating systems, including Windows). The code should also compile with other Fortran compilers for Windows, but a lot of format statements still use Hollerith's which some compilers will object to. These will be cleaned up (one day). Executable: ----------- The executable should run under WIN95/98 or any NT-based system. I certainly have not had problems with other programs using this Compaq compiler, but please report problems. Running the program: ------------------- This is not a full windows program, it is just compiled to run as a "Dos-like" console utility. So, you either have to put it in the same directory as your control files for DLS, or put it elsewhere and run it via a shortcut in your data directory. There are no changes to the input file - details in the manual from Christian Baerlocher and only minor (but extensive) changes to the output format. The input file must have the extension ".dls" . The program asks you for a filename, and you must input only the root of the name. So, if your file is called calcite.dls, then input "calcite". The output will appear in calcite.out and (if you ask for them) new atom parameters in calcite.new Warnings: --------- This version reproduced the results from the two test cases listed in the manual. I have not tried many of the other options. The "GENER" card does not work. dls76windows.ZIP: ----------------- This zip file contains the following files: Archive: dls76windows.ZIP Length Date Time Name ------ ---- ---- ---- 730552 03-14-02 13:52 Figure2.jpg 295321 02-20-02 13:59 figure1.jpg 237056 03-14-02 13:43 DLS76 manual nofigs.doc 573440 03-05-02 11:06 DLS76WIN.exe 36330 03-14-02 14:13 example2.OUT 11395 03-14-02 14:12 example1.OUT 1600 01-14-02 13:21 example2.dls 928 01-14-02 14:45 example1.DLS ------ ------- 1886622 8 DLS76WIN.exe is a pure windows executable. It runs off a file-browser so you can avoid having to construct short-cuts in the working directory. I have also added some extra output files to the code and some extra output when TETCON cards are used. DLS76 manual nofigs.doc is an MS Word file of the manual, with the equations restored by my student. I have put the two figures in seperate jpegs , as including them in the Word document inflates its size to 6Mb !!! Isn't technology wonderful: 0.1Mb+0.6Mb+0.7Mb = 6Mb!! The example input and output files are stored seperately in the zip file. Additional comment by Ch. Baerlocher DLS-76-Manual: ------------- This directory contains also two files of the manual (including the figures) generated form the files provided by Ross Angel DLS-76manual.doc ; this is a Word document (size appr. 1.3 MB) DLS-76manual.pdf ; PDF-file in screen resolution (ca 356KB) Except for the flowchart of the program, the quality is also good for printing.
