National Learn to Row Day at Virginia Tech
Saturday, June 12, 2004 is National Learn to Row Day. This event is sponsored by USRowing and Concept2 as an annual event to help promote the sport of rowing across the country. USRowing is the non-profit organization, recognized by the Olympic Committee as the United States governing body in the sport of rowing. Concept2 is a top manufacturer of oars and ergometers (indoor rowing machines) in the United States. Clubs all across the nation are joining together on June 12th to promote rowing as a great sport to try or to compete in.
On the Virginia Tech campus, any and all are welcome to come to the Drillfield any time from 1 - 5 pm to learn about the great sport of rowing, hosted by the Virginia Tech Crew Club. If you attend, you will be exposed to all facets of rowing with most of the emphasis on the ergometer, or indoor rowing machine. The coaching staff and rowers will guide you through the basics of good technique and strength as you learn about erging. There will be a real racing shell on display that you can walk around, touch, move, and get your picture taken with.
