CaveateDue to problems/limitations in the Delphi development system, Gretep needs Windows to be running in (the normally default) Small Fonts Mode; other wise the window sizes and menus can go very strange. For more information on this, refer to the page on Strange Font Size Problems |
GRETEP (Grenoble Thermal Ellipsoids Plot) is quite simple to use and is obtained from the LMGP program suite site at
http://www.ccp14.ac.uk/ccp/web-mirrors/lmgp-laugier-bochu/.
Custom labelling is very powerful in Gretep. You can define windows fonts, change the name of the label, the save the orientation and label information as part of the Gretep file. First open the structure of interest. The Labels Off Centre option is highlighted with a hand drawn black circle.
Select the Labels Off Centre option to bring up a set of labelling options. The centred labels will be drawn (so they are identified) but excess centred labels can easily be deleted later using the Delete all centred labels option. You can also have click and drag options (selecting the atoms) to add and delete atom labels.
(If you want to change the font, select the Font option and a standard Windows dialog box will come up) To place labels, select the write a label off centre option. Now click on an atom until you are happy with the output. A text box will appear between clicking on the atom and placing it, allowing the input of custom atom labels (though you can just accept the default). If you don't like a position, click on the atom again and place the label again. Click right mouse button to finish atom labelling.
Use the Right Mouse Button to finish when you are happy with the look of things.
To get rid of the centred labels, use the Delete all centred labels option to delete all of these. Then Close the Label Editing Dialog box.
You can hide the custom added atom labels by deselecting the Labels Off Centre option.
To bring back the labels, select Labels Off Center. This will also bring back the centred labels so just select Delete All Centred Labels then Close.
