About Diffconv

Diffconv is a spline fitting based calibration program for mass conversion of INEL PSD data from GUFI and ORTEC binary file formats to interpolated and re-ranged CPI, XFIT, LHPM and Column format data.

Diffconv does calibration using a spline algorithm and allows up to 512 calibration points. Using a spline algorithm means that the calibration is forced to go through the datapoints. This is important to handle discontinuities in Channel to 2-theta conversion that cannot be easily modelled with a polynomial fitting routine.

Diffcont can also interpolate the converted data to constant step and re-range the data as well as some other functions.

Diffconv can also create a NULL conversion file for you to fit the calibration data (select the data first and this option will enable).

Formats Supported

  • Input: GUFI (*.guf) and ORTEC (*.chn) Binary files
  • Output: Riet7, XFIT, Column and CPI

Obtaining and installing Diffconv

Installing Difconv - NG (Next Generation) - February 2001 version

  1. Install the extra Dl-Converter package to get required Lab Windows libraries into the Windows area (apologies about this kludge)

  2. Click here to download the new 19th August 2002 Zipped Diffconv Executable and put it into c:\diffconv directory. [Stefan Pantos homepage]

  3. Run and try and be happy with the result. Though be wary to check out any initial runs to make sure this is doing the right thing for you.

Installing the older versions of Diffconv

  1. Click here to download the Old pre August 2002 Zipped Diffconv Executable and put it into c:\diffconv directory. [Stefan Pantos homepage]

  2. Click here to download the Zipped Diffconv Executable and put it into c:\diffconv directory. (There are issues with this 17th October 2000 version of Diffconv. Especially around the edges of the calibration region. These will be fixed in a new version to be released soon.)
